1 Samuel 18:9So from that time on Saul kept a jealous eye on David.

The sin of jealousy originated in heaven when Lucifer who was the chief worshiper in heaven where he led all the angels to worship the Godhead. His duty was to lead the heavenly host in worship daily.

We do not know how long and often the worship sessions would be but we know that after sometime Lucifer became jealous of God and he desired that honor and worship for himself. He said in his heart that he is more magnificent than God and he wanted the entire angelic host to worship him instead. Because of this jealousy he committed the next sin of pride and with pride it led him to rebellion.

Therefore we can see that a sin can start small but it can continue to roll over into bigger sin. This sin of jealousy was also passed on to the first man and women and they received it from Satan when they fell and obeyed him.

Subsequently when Adam and Eve had their children, we see that Cain and Abel also had this problem. Cain became jealous of Abel and he murdered Abel. This same sin of jealousy led Cain from one sin to another. First he was jealous, then he became angry and then his heart became wicked and formulated the sinful deed.

From being jealous, it continued to develop until it became an act of murder and lies when God confronted Cain. This is the same sin nature that all men have inherited once they are born as humans. We have inherited this from our forefather, Adam.

Similarly the world is full of people who are jealous of others, and this same sin is not spared from within the Church. Members get jealous with other members. Leaders get jealous with other leaders, and when all these happen then quarrels and fights will follow and soon the whole Church would be sucked into it.

Slander will take place, anger will also follow and fights will develop. The long story made short, the end results would be hurt and bitterness that would engulf the whole Church and the Church would split.

This is the first stage in Church split. Satan is an expert in lying and accusing. He is the father and originator of all lies, he is also the accuser of the brethren and he accuses God’s people before God every day. Satan was also recorded as accusing Joshua before God.

In Zechariah 3: 1 Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before thee angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him.

That is the work of Satan; his name is also called the accuser of the brethren. Satan uses this weapon to discredit and to destroy godly men. Every successful minister will tell you of their own experience of having been under the attack of the accuser of the brethren. Satan will use the people from inside the Church to be the accuser and often other church leaders are used to accuse the leader.

This is because the normal member would not dare to do so and Satan will use the weaker leaders to do his dirty work.

Let us clean our hearts and mind with the word of God, let us spray that we will not succumb to the seed of jealousy that Satan will sow into the hearts of the people in Church especially those who are in leadership.
