Devotions 7th April 2017

Titus 2: 13“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;”

The events in the last week are prophetic with Chemical weapons being released twice and over a hundred civilians including children and babies died. This has brought about an immediate reaction from the new US president and 60 missiles were fired at a Syrian airfield two days ago.

Many people are looking at these days as being a prelude to the prophecy of Isaiah 17: 1The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap. With the super powers now having an interest in Syria the prophecies of the last days are now falling place. We begin to see a clearer picture as the nations that are to play a major part of the last days are moving into position.

We see Turkey, Iran, Russia, US, Arabia and even Israel being engaged in one way or another in the war in Syria. We also see the deployment of high tech weapons that can literally flatten the city of Damascus coming into the picture. Syria is now the hot spot of geopolitical struggle as it is a strategic area in prophecy.

The other area of contention is Jerusalem as the US President has promised to move the US embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv. Jerusalem is the city that Jesus Christ will come back to rule for a thousand years in the coming future. It is also the place where the Antichrist is coming to rule for 3 ½ years during the Tribulation period.

Both heavenly and demonic forces are struggling for the ownership of Jerusalem and when the US finally do shift their embassy to Jerusalem, there would be an outbreak of war by the surrounding countries coming together to attack Israel. This is all prophesied in Psalm 83 but it is not the war of EZ 38-39. This war will come after the tribulation period.

All these excitement point to one thing, the Day of the Lord is coming soon and we in this period of history are the generation that would see the coming of Jesus and all the Jacob’s trouble that is going to come to pass soon. These are prophesied and would have to come to pass before Jesus comes.

We are reminded by Titus here today; “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;” Let’s not be weary but let us look up in hope for that coming day when we shall see Jesus coming back to enforce His victory over the enemy and his minions on the earth.
