Devotions 9th April 2017

John 20: 31These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

In the words of John who said ‘these are written’, he meant the record of the life of Jesus Christ. In the four gospels, these are the records of the life and deeds of Jesus Christ while he was on earth. Each Gospel shared a different aspect of His life and ministry, they were written so that we can believe and learn the truth that Jesus is the true Messiah and everyone who believe in Him may have eternal life in His name.

Today is palm Sunday which was the beginning of the week when Jesu made His entry into Jerusalem and the gospels record His triumphant entry with all the people cheering Him. In this fateful week, Jesus completed His ministry and he eventually was crucified for our sins and redemption.

As the world remembers this week, we observe that Churches worldwide are holding services and celebrations in commemoration of the final week of Jesus before His death and resurrection. Many traditional Churches have been observing this week as the week of passion and many are praying and keeping their lives righteous as they observe this holy week.

As believers in Jesus Christ, this week is the most important week to the church. Without the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we have no gospel and np salvation. The foundation of the doctrine of Salvation is based upon the events of the week of passion.

The love of God for all sinners and their redemption is worked out through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. He came to die for our sins and because He did that, we are all redeemed in Him. He has paid the ultimate price of death and when He resurrected, he defeated death and now we too have this right and privilege of inheriting heaven because Jesus paid the price for us all.

Through His death, the ultimate sacrifice which satisfied God the Father was made and now there is no other sacrifice that needs to be made for the redemption of our sins. Jesus Christ is our Messiah, He paid the price for us and now we are saved  in Him.
