Psalm 13: 1
How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? … But I trust in your unfailing love.

David who was much loved by God and who had developed a personal and intimate relationship with God had also experienced some off time with God. He had been experiencing a lot of trouble in his life and was persecuted by his enemies. He had called out to God but it seems there were no response from God.

In this psalm David wrote in the next verse; ‘How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart.’  David said that he was worried and had loss sleep during the night and his life was wretched, he had no peace and he had no rest.

David was at a loss not knowing what else he can do except to continue to trust in God. In such a time as this, David never gave up his trust and faith in God. In fact he renewed his trust and seeks God even more fervently. We know that we are never in complete control of our lives, we may be able to do that to a certain degree but there are much more that are out of our control or ability to handle.

Heb 13: 5-6 tell us; ‘Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.’

We live in a troubled world in troubled times, today we see that in America even though the President is doing a great job in leading and protecting the country, there are many of his enemies who have planned to come out in large numbers to protest and to cause civil unrest in the hope of dislodging a lawfully registered President.

In a sense the President is like the king of a country just like David, even such a powerful person in the country can experience and face all kinds of persecution and dangers.

This tells us that nothing is secured in our lives and position, only God is the one who is secured in our lives. Let us continue to turn our eyes upon Jesus and our Father God.
